Documentary director, publicist, actor and scriptwriter, civic activist and director, Rychlík has changed many professions. He was actor and director of HaDivadlo, a legendary Czech theater studio, from 1982, and a guest director at many other theaters. From the late 1990s, he mostly focused on documentaries and has shot over 100 works ever since. In 2001, Rychlík published a collection of essays titled The Decay of Wagons in Czechia. Together with the actors of the National Ivan Franko Theater in Kyiv, he directed Vaclav Havel’s play Sanation – this was Havel’s first play presented in Ukrainian and in Ukraine.
