International festival of traditional cultures «EtnoSvit»
200 artists from Ukraine as well as other countries around the world will present their traditional crafts and technologies, revealing secrets of creating authentic handmade artistic masterpieces. Among the guests of the festival are representatives of the following countries: France, Greece, Belarus, Lithuania, Georgia, Uzbekistan, Turkey and others.
The project aims to create a platform for cultural exchange, a deeper knowledge of other cultures and Ukraine’s integration into the global cultural space. This year for the first time Ukraine invites folk artists of the world in order to create an atmosphere of mutual learning and mutual understanding through popular culture that is tolerant and unifying.
During the three-day festival visitors of the Mystetskyi Arsenal will be able to enjoy: fair of traditional crafts, exhibitions of unique collections of ceramics of the National Historical and Cultural Reserve «Chygyryn» and the National Museum of Ukrainian Pottery in Opishne, exhibition of ancient Ukrainian musical instruments and special music program of the Kyiv Kobza Guild, children’s area (traditional games, fun, master classes), traditional cuisine from around the world and delicious Cossack Kulish, performances by folk bands, master classes on traditional dances of Ukraine, Georgia, Belarus, and Lithuania, fair of literature about the culture and traditions, films about the missing and living traditions, people, life and crafts from around the world.
The guests of the festival will be able to take part in the following master classes on: straw weaving, pottery, making pysankas (painting on eggs), painting on glass, maize weaving, clay modeling, paper decorations, Petrykivsky painting, motanka dolls, vines weaving, baking dough larks, weaving and many other crafts.
International festival of traditional cultures «EtnoSvit» is going to be held for the first time, but intends to be an annual forum that will gather together creative people from different countries in the capital of Ukraine in order to mutual learning, establishing cultural ties between nations and promote the image of Ukraine in the world. Getting to know cultures of other nations, we better know our native culture.
