Ukrainian Emergency Art Fund: two months report

To deal with the consequences of the Russian invasion and threats the war poses on the Ukrainian art community — Mystetskyi Arsenal, (MOCA) Museum of Contemporary Art NGO, Zaborona, and The Naked Room established the Ukrainian Emergency Art Fund.

WE DO:

  • provide support for independent artists, curators, arts managers, researchers, art writers and cultural NGOs in Ukraine;
  • facilitate, support and administer donations offered by international artistic and charity organizations;
  • promote contemporary Ukrainian culture as a powerful instrument for strengthening Ukraine’s position among democratic nations of the world.

In two months, almost 3 million hryvnias were collected, of which 65% is institutional support, 33% — external individuals and 2% — among the companies whose business is not related to art.

The Fund also started a collaboration with The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts. Thanks to the generous donation of 50’000 USD from our partner we’re now able to establish a stipendiary program for Ukrainian artists and cultural workers. We’ll be back soon with the details of the program and first names of our stipendiaries.

Financial and operational administration of the fund is done by the (MOCA) Museum of Contemporary Art NGO.
