Olexa Mann was one of the active members of Mystetskyi Barbican and exhibited his works there. His paintings, created at that time, capture the most widespread stamps that were addressed while describing the revolution. For example, the New Middle Ages—this is how structure, ammunition and arrangement of Maidan were usually described. The catapult which the protesters designed to resist Berkut was also depicted, mentioning the middle ages. Hence, the images that are deliberately exaggerated and fearfully-caricature are widely recognized codes, but also have a sign of the artist’s own experience.
