The “Ukraine Ablaze” project by the Laboratory of Contemporary Art
The Laboratory of Contemporary Art “Mala Gallery of the Mystetskyi Arsenal” announces the project Ukraine Ablaze. It is an art initiative that collects and displays artistic statements against the war in Ukraine. The project title refers to the film-essay of Oleksandr Dovzhenko.
The project will function as an online platform, consisting of collected and documented artist’s works which were made in wartime. The platform will represent a wide range of artistic statements that reflect on the war in Ukraine. Also the platform will contain biographical information, author’s commentary on the work and contacts of authors. All the works will be allowed to be shared publicly.
The online platform will grant all people who gather on the streets to express their solidarity and support Ukraine an opportunity to reach first-hand accounts and bear them into the public spaces. The Ukraine Ablaze platform will work not only as an archive of statements but will also create an opportunity for foreign culture operators to explore the variety of practices by Ukrainian artists.
Through these actions, a network of solidarity and support for Ukrainian cultural workers is being formed.
