Overthrow of the Lenin monument in Kharkiv is a historical event that took place in 2014 in one of the largest cities in eastern Ukraine, 25 years after the first similar event—the demolition of a monument in the western Ukrainian city of Chervonograd. Destruction of the symbol of the past ideology became the basis for the thesis by Dariia Kuzmych, which she defended at the Faculty of Monumental Painting of the National Academy of Fine Arts and Architecture. In fact, the artist chose the technique of painting, which in the Soviet era was typical for the glorification of ideology. However, in this case, it became a method of glorifying the destruction and erosion of its monuments.
