OPEN CONTEST OF PROJECTS 2019
The Mystetskyi Arsenal invites curators, artists and art groups, museum and gallery workers, as well as collectors to take part in the open contest of exhibition art projects. The winning project will be implemented at the Mystetskyi Arsenal in 2020-2021.
The project has to:
◾ correspond to the Mystetskyi Arsenal’s mission and values;
◾ raise current social issues, as well as introduce prominent phenomena of art and intellectual culture;
◾ cover the space of one wing of the Mystetskyi Arsenal (expositional area: 4 000 sq. m);
◾ include an educational component;
◾ have a clean-cut implementation plan and a credible budget.
The project may be:
◾ of multi-disciplinary nature;
◾ developed in cooperation with several institutions.
An important professional criterion for selection is the high artistic quality of the project. This is set as a result of an expert discussion of the members of the Program Council of the Mystetskyi Arsenal.
Projects with approved sources of funding are favored. However, this is not a mandatory requirement.
The Mystetskyi Arsenal is open to consultations and joint development of the selected project.
The estimated period of project implementation: 2020-2021.
To participate in the contest, please send the following materials:
– Application for participation in the contest containing information about the project curator: name, surname, contacts (no special form required);
– CV of the main participants: curator, artists, other participants;
– Project description (compulsory: the conception, estimated structure, description of the exposition material or its visualization in electronic form; optionally: the principles of architectural and artistic decision);
– Project budget in Microsoft Excel.
The application deadline is Monday, September 30, 2019.

The selection of projects and identification of the project for implementation will be carried out by the Program Council of the Mystetskyi Arsenal by November 1, 2019.
Proposals with an incomplete list of the above-mentioned materials will not be considered.
Advantage will be given to the projects that will have additional funding sources.
Submitted materials will not be returned to the applicants.
For the first open contest of exhibition art projects in 2017, we received 17 applications. The winner of the contest was the Instant Time project. Created and curated by Viktoriia Bavykina and Asia Tsisar. The exhibition was held at the Mystetskyi Arsenal from July 12 to August 12, 2018. It was visited by more than 10,000 people.
During the second open contest, the project dedicated to the Ukrainian graphic arts of 19th-20th centuries was selected. The project is curated by Kateryna Pidhaina and Iryna Borovets. It will be implemented at the Mystetskyi Arsenal in the spring of 2020.
