Who is he, the modern revolutionary? It is the question asked by Illya Isupov. By referring to the classic painting Bonaparte at the St. Bernard Pass by Jacques-Louis David, the artist creates a romantic image of a smiling Kyiv office worker dressed in homemade patches. The composition of the original painting, the posture of Napoleon, a horse on the racks—all evidently shows the greatness and heroism of the commander, working on creating a romanticized hero. Isupov creates an image of Ukrainian revolutionary, similar to this prototype. The spirit of time in his work is transmitted by the sign of a bus stop instead of a shield, a tire, a state sheet and an inventory number on the body of a white horse.
